ACEO stands for 'Art Cards, Editions and Originals' and is an offshoot of the original artists' trading cards of the late nineties. The main difference with the ACEO is that you can now include open edition or limited edition prints as well as original pieces of artwork. The cards can be in any medium as long as it is relatively flat for collector purposes. The only rule is that it must measure 2.5" x 3.5". These cards are sold, traded and bought on many dedicated websites these days, most notably Ebay and Etsy.
I had been considering doing some cards for a while as I love the concept and it makes for a new challenge.
I have a soft spot for animals and their quirky ways, so decided my first cards would depict this theme. The pen and ink and black and white was a liking for illustration and the power it can provide to a small work. I may venture in with the watercolours next...watch this space, I think these cards are slightly addictive to do!!
Thank you Helena. My animals are a constant source of amusement to me and I just can’t resist sketching them. Everyone in my family have animals, my Mum more than most. The ACEO thing is a new venture for me but becoming addictive already!
I love your pen and ink drawings. I’m hoping to buy some through Ebay and have put bids on some of the cat ones!
